Clinical Lead OT – Mental Health

We are recruiting for a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist with experience in Mental health for this permanent vacancy with our client based in Surrey. This is a full time permanent position, salary 30K-35k, to start ASAP.

Based in Woking the company is recruiting for an occupational therapist to be their clinical lead in their low secure psychiatric unit for young adults, there fore enabling patients to be treated closer to home.

The company provides a high standard of individualised care for young people between the ages on 11-18 years who are experiencing a mental health crisis and cannot be maintained in intensive community settings. The enhanced Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides a safe, secure, therapeutic environment where young people are encouraged to take an active part in their Care Programme Approach.

Your duties will include –
• To select and apply Occupational Therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing Occupational performance and skills deficits enabling the patient in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.
• To work with patients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of overall care plan.
• To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions in collaboration with the patient, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
• To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for patients with complex needs in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of the intervention.
• To demonstrate a broad level of understanding of the effects of ill health and apply this when making recommendations to address the patients’ physical, psychological and social needs.
• To review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of appraisal and professional/clinical supervision.
• To undertake the supervision and appraisal of Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapist.
• To demonstrate leadership skills through the management of designated projects.

To be considered for this role you must be a qualified with bachelors in occupational therapy, currently registered with the HCPC, proven experience in CAMHS and management experience in an in-patient metal health setting.
