Band 8a Occupational Therapist required for a full time permanent job opportunity based in the Doncaster area, specialising in Autism & Challenging behaviour.

Based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire the company specialise in providing residential care services for children and adults with autistic and challenging behaviour disorders. They are currently recruiting for a specialist senior OT to lead their OT services.

The aim of the role -
The role of the Specialist Occupational Therapist will be to Support the provision of occupational therapy services across an area of the group; working collaboratively with staff and promoting the well - being and best interests of residents/ students.

The post- holder will be an autonomous practitioner, taking a specialist role in assessment & treatment of a case load of clients, including the provision of second opinions for other therapists in the team and the overall occupational therapy service as required.

Main duties and responsibilities

•To supervise and/or line manage occupational therapist and other staff within the service area.
•To demonstrate advanced specialist clinical expertise in the assessment, treatment and management of clients with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, providing
appropriate specialist intervention and evaluating outcomes underpinned by current evidence based practice and outcome measures.
•To make appropriate differential diagnoses and specialist clinical decisions on the
evidence from assessment of comp ex cases.
•To provide specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of residents/students developing clear care plans based on best practice.
•To communicate complex condition related information from assessment to clients, carers, families and members of the multi- disciplinary team/other professions, demonstrating empathy, and ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist.
•To maintain up to date and accurate case notes and writ e reports reflecting advanced specialist knowledge, ensuring that they meet the departmental standards and are in line with the Group 's Standards and Policy, and BAOT professional standards.

To be considered for this position you have a bachelor degree in Occupational therapy, must be currently registered with HCPC, have proven experience working with autistic and challenging behaviour patients, also you must have sensory integration skills.
