Locum of the Month

Tuesday 7th August 2012

Each month JustOT would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Occupational Therapy Service!

Name: Alex Hitchcock

Profession: OT

Where are you from? Perth, Western Australia

Current Locum position? Grade 6 OT - Brain Injury Rehabilitation

What do you enjoy about your job?

My caseload spans two wards, including a Brain Injury Unit and a Neurodisability Unit, in a close working multidisciplinary team with a vast amount of neurological experience. Meaning I have the opportunity to work with a range of diagnosis and presentations, with the support of a great team.

Personal achievements within your role?
I had never key-worked before, so having 3 key-working patients and learning the NHS system was hard work but I got a great sense of accomplishment (and relief!) when my first key-working patient was discharged.

How do you unwind from work?
Exploring London, seeing friends and cooking- better yet, if the three are combined.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) friends
2.) laptop
3.) toilet paper
