Locum of the Month - December 2014

Sunday 30th November 2014

Each month JustOT would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Occupational Therapy Service.

Name: Alison

Profession: Occupational Therapist

Where are you from? Sydney, Australia

Current Locum position? Band 6 Occupational Therapist

Personal achievements within the role? Gained experience working in the community despite having no previous community experience. Gained confidence and perspective that is not always seen when having always worked in an acute inpatient service.

What do you enjoy about being a locum? The variety of roles and experience you can gain. I love meeting new people and being kept challenged with taking on a variety of roles to become a diversified professional.

Most memorable moment within your career? Treating a cannot-be named famous musician as a hand therapy patient during my first week working in London!

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) Swiss ball- excellent floating device, great exercise equipment, can throw at things and it will return…endless options!
2.) Flame thrower/ flame stick or whatever people want to call it- will help me cook things, keep warm and have a fun night-time rave with?
3.) Tempur pillow as i’m a pillow snob.
