Locum of the Month October 2013

Monday 14th October 2013

Each month JustOT would like to recognise one of our locums for their personal achievement and commitment to the Occupational Therapy Service!

Name: Andrea Hodgson

Profession: Occupational Therapist

Where are you from? Workington, Cumbria

Current Locum position?
Band 5 OT, Community Rehabilitation Stroke Unit

What do you enjoy about your job?
Being in the privileged position of being able to work holistically with people who have experienced a stroke and their families and seeing what a difference (however small) enabling someone to engage in meaningful and purposeful occupation/activity can have on an individual in terms of helping them readjust and cope with what is a huge event in their lives

Personal achievements within your role?
Working as a Band 5 locum in the complex field of neurological rehabilitation has brought many challenges, however having the dedication and commitment to overcome such challenges, with the support of colleagues, has enabled me to develop into a more confident and skilled practitioner.

How do you unwind from work?
Spending time with friends and family, having a soak in a hot bath with a magazine, practising yoga (but not as often as I should!)

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1.) Hammock
2.) Magnifying glass and tinder (technically two items...)
3.) Spear!
