We are delighted to recognise Claire as our JustOT Locum of the Month this June for her tremendous hard work as a Community Occupational Therapist.
Joining us shortly after she made the move over to the UK from Australia back in December, Claire has certainly made a positive impact within her placements so far and with her Consultant Karen.
‘She is a lovely locum. Very sweet and personable and she doesn’t like to feel she is being a nuisance. Which of course she isn’t!’ Says Karen.
We thought we would ask a few questions to get to know more about Claire…
Where are you from: Central Coast, New South Wales.
Current locum position: Community Occupational Therapy working with clients with neurological and chronic health conditions.
Personal Achievements within role: I'm currently adapting some pants for a client to help him dress independently. It's a work in progress about to be trialled! If they work, it'll be a great achievement for my client (and me!).
What do you enjoy about being a locum: The opportunity to practice Occupational Therapy in a variety of settings and flexible work schedules allowing for travel.
Most memorable moment within your career: I don't have one in particular, but it's always so encouraging to see that your therapy has helped someone however small that maybe. It's a great feeling when a patient really thanks you for your help.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?
1) My boyfriend
2) A pocket knife
3) Does my OT home kit count as 1 item? I have all sorts in there that could get me out of trouble!
