Our Locum of the Month

To kick off the New Year we are proud to be recognising our wonderful locum Eliza-Lee as our Locum of the Month for all of her hard work in 2017.

Since coming over from Australia, Eliza has been a pleasure to work with, she is the perfect locum, always willing and available for hard to fill positions and embraces new challenges.

When arriving in the country, Eliza took on a role in a setting she had never worked in before and hit the ground running, she loves to try new things and is very passionate about what she does which makes her an amazing Occupational Therapist.

Eliza was nominated by our JustOT recruitment consultant Stuart who added, ‘every time I speak with her Therapy Lead she has nothing but great things to say about Eliza and from a personal point of view she has been very easy to talk to and work with.

Current Locum position? Band 5 Occupational Therapist

Personal achievements within the role? Moving to the other side of the world by myself and working as an OT in the acute setting.

What do you enjoy about being a locum? Having the flexibility to take leave whenever I like.

Most memorable moment within your career? When I worked in Indigenous Health & travelled to outreach Australia. I was referred a 55 year old man who had had an accident resulting in paraplegia. I was told he didn't engage well with therapy staff but after getting to know the patient, he told me how much gardening meant to him and how he wished he could continue this. After liaising with the community, we designed and built him a raised garden bed with his favourite vegetables, which he could independently maintain from his wheelchair. This particular experience reinforced the importance of making connections with your patients and how something so small can mean so much.
