This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to play an integral and active role in a friendly, dynamic, and supportive Multidisciplinary Team to make a significant contribution in the area of rehabilitation. Mental Health Services is an independent charity (CHY4070) providing care and support to people with severe and enduring mental health needs like Alzheimer's and dementia, schizophrenia, and Huntington's disease.

Job Role:

The Senior Occupational Therapist will work with patients with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs. This is a pivotal post with the responsibility to lead and manage an Occupational Therapy caseload in Bloomfield Hospital.

* Provide Occupational Therapy Services within a compliant framework,
* Ensure that the highest standard of clinical care in Occupational Therapy is planned and delivered to meet objectives aligned to local and national standards.
* Deliver efficient, effective, and economic Occupational Therapy Services within a defined budgetary framework.
* Coordinate and supervise peer-support worker activities.
* Be an active member of the Clinical Governance Committee and assist in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for Bloomfield Hospital.
* Foster the continued development of research at Bloomfield Hospital and provide teaching, research, and academic support when required.
* Assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment and intervention programmes for our patients and residents, in line with professional standards.
* Collaboration with patients and residents, families, carers, and other staff in goal setting and treatment and intervention planning.
* Participate in and work closely with the multi-disciplinary and healthcare team.
* Maintain comprehensive clinical records of assessments, interventions, and discussions relating to patients and residents.
* Manage the practice education of student therapists and promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.

Key Working Relationships include:
* Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Clinical Director, Allied Health Professionals, Clinical Nurse Managers, Support Staff and Volunteers at Bloomfield Hospital.
* Mental Health Commission.
* Health, Information and Quality Authority.
* Key personnel in the schools and departments in the Faculty of Health Sciences Trinity College Dublin and any other colleges.

Successful Client Requirements:
* Be registered on the Occupational Therapists' Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists' Registration Board at CORU.
* Hold a degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent qualification, and be eligible for membership with the AOTI.
* Have three years full-time (or an aggregate of three years) post-qualification clinical experience.
* Have established clinical experience in the area of mental health rehabilitation, serious and enduring mental health conditions, or cognitive rehabilitation in the area of Acquired Brain Injury.
* Energetic individual with solid clinical experience in working with a team of diverse clinicians and strong knowledge of the concepts and operation of Clinical Governance.
* Strong ability to manage and play a key role in the practice education of student therapists, and promote and engage in the teaching, training, and support of others as appropriate.
* Have a good knowledge and experience of health, safety, and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organization.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
* Display strong and positive interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to motivate and lead a team.
* Demonstrate a person-centred care approach.
* Proficient IT skills
